Benjamin’s Hope

“Receiving the Art Van Grant set in motion a chain of events. Newspaper articles ran in the Holland Sentinel, the Grand Rapids Press, and even a legal journal that circulates the state of Michigan. Matching gifts in excess of the grant amount were received within three months! Property approval for the future site of Benjamin’s Hope was received from Park Township, Holland in just 2 1/2 months! We presented Benjamin’s Hope to the Board of Directors of Community Mental Health of Ottawa County and garnered a full vote of support, and commitment of staff resources to help. The Holland/Zeeland Area Community Foundation awarded Benjamin’s Hope a grant!”

“Is it a stretch to link all of these hopeful events to the Art Van Million Dollar Charity Grant? I don’t think
so! Receiving the Art Van Grant communicated something very important to our public. It communicated that a thriving, major business leader in Michigan has confidence in us! Your gift to Benjamin’s Hope has somehow, remarkably, imparted to us some of the credibility and confidence you have earned these 40+ years. Your gift has launched us!”
