Camp Quality NW Michigan

Camp Quality serves children with cancer and their families by providing unique, year-round programs and experiences, free of charge. Camp Quality is dedicated to helping children foster life skills and develop their full potential, while providing hope and inspiration. The Art Van grant will go towards the rental of campgrounds and additional program costs which will be used for a week of camp for a child who has been touched with cancer.

    Camp Quality is a wonderful opportunity for children with cancer to forget their difficulties and be a kid for a week. They are watched over by doctors, nurses and chaperones while enjoying a week of camping, boating, swimming, horse backriding, crafts and even building their own rockets and setting them off to shoot high in the sky! There is no cost to the family. Please consider this this excellent charity when voting.

    Catie and I have worked at this camp for the last 6 years at their NW Michigan location and now at their Fenton location also. It’s a wonderful organization and the kids truly love the time they have away from the hospital, chemo, etc. while enjoying swimming, crafts, outdoor activities and just being a “kid at camp”.

    Our daughter Tianna has been a companion at Camp Quality for the past few years. She will graduate in December with her RN degree and plans on continuing her career in Pediatric Oncology. The experience she has had at CQ has been amazing and a life changing experience for her. The connections she has made with these kids has been life changing for her as well as the kids. Please help this organization give these kids the opportunity to be “kids” for a week.

    My daughter who is 14 years old loves this camp! She was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was 11 yrs old and has been attending this camp every since. She can’t wait until she is older so that she may give back by volunteering as a companion to another child with cancer. Even when she compares this camp to others that are not cancer based, none measure up to Camp Quality!

    I have volunteered for Camp Quality for the past 5 years and have taken on bigger roles in the organization. We not only provide weeks of camp for children, but family weekends where the whole family gets a chance to get away and just forget about the word cancer.     Camp Quality of Michigan is so very near and dear to our hearts. We lost our son Brendan to cancer nearly eight years ago. He had a long and courageous battle. Camp Quality helped to make all of that disappear for one beautiful week each summer. At Camp he was a boy just like any other boy — it didn’t matter that he had not a stitch of hair, that he had a feeding tube or had to get his blood tested daily. Those thoughts floated away in the northern summer breeze as he caught toads, sang campfire songs, danced with girls, pulled his skivvies down from the flag pole, swabbed the deck and laughed endlessly with his friends and companions. The volunteers are angels sent from above that don’t look at these children with pity…they look at them simply as children, ready to take in the summer and enjoy all that life, energy and love. Thank you Camp Quality for the experiences you provided Our Dear Brendan and for the incredible love compassion and support you continue to give us after his passing.

    To Mr. VanElslander and the Art Van Company — thank you for your incredible blessing of support to Camp Quality of Michigan. Given the current economic climate in our region it would be all too easy to disban giving programs such as the Million Dollar Charity Challenge.     My grandson went to Camp Quality for several years. What a WONDERFUL camp. A place where a sick child can be a kid for one week. We lost our precious boy in 2003 but will always treasure the fond memories he had there.

    Please help support Camp Quality in Art Van’s Million Dollar Charity Challenge. Camp Quality provide a week of camp for children with cancer. They have a second camp in our area. My friends and I were very touched when we visited this camp last summer to deliver quilts to the children. It is an awesome camp with an awesome staff.

    This past summer was my 9th and last year as a camper. Obviously it is a great organization if i kept coming back and i plan to keep staying involved. In 2 years i will come back as a companion and have a camper of my own one day where i can make that special bond that my companions and i have made over the years. This camp has brought me so close to so many people including the staff, companions, campers, and all the volunteers. Even when im not at a camp event, i always make time to see my friends. Not only has camp been an amazing thing for me, it has been for my family and many other families i know. My best friend was supposed to come back as a companion this past summer, but unfortunately he passed away a year ago. He loved this camp as much as i do. This camp is so wonderful especailly with all the close bonds we all share together. Please vote for Camp Quality. It is the best thing that ever happened to me.
