Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit

Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit is a respected leader in “putting people with employment challenges to work”.  Since 1921, our organization has recognized the immeasurable power of work and how it can change lives.  With over 90 years of experience delivering employment & training services to the people of our metropolitan community, we have evolved into a highly respected organization with a noble mission of helping people become trained, trusted, and ready to work.  Our Ben & Jerry’s Youth Program, is designed to create opportunities for youth in skills and personal development and employment success preparation.  One of the key components of the project is a comprehensive curriculum, beginning with a four-week classroom experience.  “Job Readiness” preparation is the focus of the classroom activities, using role-playing and other interactive techniques as learning tools.  Students learn the importance of attendance and punctuality, teamwork, interpersonal skills, communication, time and money management, positive attitude, productivity, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.  Additionally real work experience training enhances the youth’s development. Through a focused vision, Goodwill Industries continues to develop new services and programs that help men, women, and youth overcome the employment barriers they face toward becoming employed.
